 A cong 【玉琮】is a type of ancient Chinese ritual jade object, specifically associated with the Liangzhu culture (circa 3300-2200 BCE). These jade pieces are characterized by a square outer section surrounding a cylindrical inner tube, often with decorative patterns including stylized faces. Congs are believed to have been used in religious ceremonies and funerary rituals, though their exact purpose remains a subject of scholarly discussion.

 A jade bi (also spelled "pi") 【玉璧】is a flat, circular jade artifact with a central hole, commonly found in ancient Chinese cultures. These discs are believed to have held significant ritual and symbolic meaning, potentially representing the heavens or cosmos. The earliest examples date back to the Neolithic period, with later examples often featuring intricate carvings.

 A jade pendant 【玉佩】 is a piece of jewelry consisting of a piece of jade stone, often carved into a specific shape or design, and worn on a string or chain around the neck. Jade pendants have deep cultural significance, particularly in Chinese culture, where they are associated with positive qualities like purity, wisdom, and good luck.

 In Chinese culture, "Jade animal" 【玉兽】 typically refers to jade carvings of animals, often imbued with symbolic meaning. These carvings are a significant art form with a long history, evolving from simple representations to complex symbols of prosperity and good fortune. Jade animals can be found in various forms, including representations of real animals like deer and ducks, as well as mythical creatures like dragons and qilins.

 A jade human figure is a figurine or ornament 【玉俑】carved from jade, a highly valued gemstone in Chinese culture, often depicting a human form. These figures can range from simple pendants to more elaborate sculptures and have been found in various forms and periods throughout Chinese history.

 Ancient Chinese culture was deeply enchanted by the world of insects, with the cicada revered as a powerful symbol of transformation and rebirth.   Generally, there are three main types of jade cicadas have been discovered: 冠蟬 (guān chán) or crown cicadas used for adorning hats; 佩蟬 (pèi chán), worn as accessories with belts; and 琀蟬 (hán chán), viaticum or mouth-jades, placed in the deceased’s mouth.
